PARTNERS FOR JUST TRADE WELCOMES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

By: Press Release

Partners for Just Trade is located in the Shaw neighborhood at the Giddings-Lovejoy Presbytery on Tower Grove and Cleveland.

Partners for Just Trade (PJT) announces the appointment of Cheryl Musch as the organization’s new executive director. PJT is a non-profit, faith-based organization that builds partnerships between artisans and farmers living in extreme poverty and consumers in North America through Fair Trade sales and education.

Ms. Musch comes to PJT following 10 years at SERRV International in Madison, Wisconsin, where she most recently served as the organization’s director of international development. Prior to her work at SERRV, Cheryl served as executive director for the Fair Trade Federation, a national trade association of Fair Trade businesses in the U.S.

About Partners for Just Trade PJT began as an initiative of the Presbyterian Hunger Program when a handful of Presbyterians from the Presbytery of Giddings-Lovejoy began bringing handcrafts made by Peruvian artisans to the United States for sale in churches and among friends. Very quickly, that tiny partnership blossomed into a growing non-profit organization with a national outreach that sells a wide variety of Fair Trade products and creates educational materials about the importance of Fair Trade.

The fair wages the artisans and farmers receive enable them to afford food, shelter, education, and medicine for their families, while also reclaiming personal dignity so they may assert their economic, political, and social rights.

Today PJT is a recognized player in the national Fair Trade movement, providing superior Fair Trade products, upholding strong, transparent relationships with its producer partners, and educating consumers about the benefits of Fair Trade. PJT is a screened member of both the Fair Trade Federation and the Green America Business Network.
