How to Contact Your Block Captain Shaw Neighborhood
Thu Aug 28, 2008

One of the reasons Shaw is such a stable neighborhood is because of our Block Units, which are each headed by one or two Block Captains. Block Captains distribute Welcome Packets to new neighbors, share helpful information, help deal with problem properties, plan parties, and organize beautification projects among other things. They are volunteers who care enough about the neighborhood to give their time and energy throughout the year.

What is a Block Unit? It is neighbors knowing each other, people watching out for each other. It is people working together to clean alleys, plant trees and flowers or working with City government to meet area needs. It is where we live, raise our families, where we work and play. What happens on one block affects the street, which affects the neighborhood, which in turn affects the whole of St. Louis. The stronger our blocks, the stronger our City. Block Units create the foundation for a stronger, safer and more vital neighborhood. It is the building block of a neighborhood organization.

So how do you get involved in your Block Unit? If you haven’t met your Block Captain yet, contact Jenny at gerfamily@sbcglobal.net. She will give you the contact information for your Block Captain or ask your Block Captain to contact you
