The Parks Division's 105 parks serve as the anchor for city neighborhoods. They are gathering spots for neighbors to meet --- at playgrounds, summer concerts, picnics, ball games, tennis courts and lakes. Walkers and runners, bikers and bladers and dogs and their owners crowd the paths and sidewalks. And they can be a quiet oasis in the heart of the city. The Recreation Division offers free access to seven swimming pools and eight recreation centers ... and runs camps in summer, helps students with homework in winter and sponsors sports for youths all year long.
